Happy Solstice everyone, have spent the morning cutting cornflowers and gypsophilia bunches for treasured friends, love the fact that from two tiny packets of seed there has been an abundance of fabulous flowers, this time last week I was bringing home a huge bunch of the same flowers, they were used to enhance a beautiful dresser in the wedding reception room of Richie and Lisa Cumbor’s wedding.
The stunning Merewood Country House in the Lake District was their perfect venue, there are so many local beautiful venues it must be a difficult decision for brides and grooms to decide what’s right for them but oh! the joy of looking.
Later this afternoon will be cutting out fabric for a new range of vintage sashes, it is a beautiful muted fabric, perfect for an Autuminal wedding or occasion, I love working with my fabrics, very therapeutic, my mind often wonders at how the designers created such beautiful patterns and blends of colours.
I would have loved to have had a career in the world of design, there was not much opportunity of that happening when I was a younger woman, but saying that I have absolutely no regrets about working within my local community, none whatsoever, continually humbling, rewarding and thoroughly enjoyable is my experience of working with CancerCare in the NHS.
Yesterday had a trip to Cartmel with Edie, ended up in the garden centre where we bumped into some of her relatives, lovely couple who create wonderful wooden garden planters and bird cages. Cake and coffee, good weather, nice company, overall a blooming good afternoon.
Short break for lunch, then crack on with measuring and cutting out, my son is redesigning the website, can’t wait to see the finished result, very handy having a son who is also a web designer, lucky me.
